Turn Gallery is pleased to present An Hoang in her solo exhibition Spring Bolero. This marks her third solo exhibition with the gallery.

Continuing her ongoing investigation of landscape, atmosphere, and memory, Hoang expands her focus, incorporating the dynamic presence of trees into her billowing cloud formations. Hoang’s canvases encapsulate immersive yet fleeting encounters with the natural world. Rooted in memory and personal experience, her compositions distill the intangible—weather, time, and space—rather than depicting a direct landscape.

In this new body of work, trees emerge as active participants, their forms dissolving and reforming within layers of lush oil. Her gestural mark-making pulls the viewer through moments of motion and stillness, evoking the quiet power of nature’s constant rhythms. With playful yet mystical force, branches twist into unexpected arcs and bright hues swell and bleed into one another. Hoang’s technique embraces both fluidity and contrast, as creamy blurs and scraped textures heighten the sensation of shifting light and atmosphere, bringing in the hope and possibility that come with the budding of spring.

An Hoang was born in Washington D.C., and lives in the Lower Hudson Valley, NY. Recent exhibitions include Volery Gallery, Dubai, UAE; Halsey McKay, East Hampton, NY; Ceysson & Bénétière, New York, NY; TURN Gallery, New York, NY; Tracey Morgan Gallery, Asheville, NC; Able Baker Contemporary, Portland, ME; Left Field Gallery, Los Osos, CA; and Livingston Gallery, The Netherlands.
