TURN is pleased to inaugurate our Parlour Room with Scenes from the Park, a solo exhibition by Paul Inglis.

Scenes from the Park shares with the viewer a grouping of recent sculptures by Inglis which he knows as urban forms. Inglis’ daily practice includes walking his native Boston observing, sketching and abstracting the landscapes of parks and seaports. Exploring the liminal space between reality and memory he transforms his reflections of boats, buildings, and fountains into small scale geometric color-wrapped wooden structures. These forms are then housed inside painted boxes which create a stage for each performer drawing the observer into a minimalistic microcosm forged by Inglis’ delicate hand. Through his reductive process and by employing the psychological effects of color Kandinsky defined, each work by Inglis extends the offer of a collaborative experience by beginning a story the spectator finishes.
